Team Information
Parents Please Read The Team Handbook (PDF)
The UMCY Stingrays Swim Team is located in Montgomery Village and participates in the Chesapeake and Potomac YMCA league as well as the Potomac Valley United States Swimming (USS) league. The team offers a small club atmosphere where all swimmers support and know each other regardless of age group or ability. The team is focused on having fun while developing swimmers to their highest potential. Many UMCY swimmers have qualified for championship meets such as YMCA Nationals and several graduates have continued their swimming careers to the college level. While swimmers will be training along side national and regional level athletes, training will be geared to fit their needs and goals. We treat our members as whole people, not just swimmers.
One of the great advantages of being a YMCA team is that the “Y” meets offer all swimmers especially younger ones an atmosphere where they feel part of the team. The younger swimmers report having more fun at “Y” meets than at standard USS meets. The USS meets that we compete in offer our older swimmers a high level of competition and a chance to compete against other local swimmers.
